 | 11:59 am I've never been a fan of "Ziggyism": surrounding oneself with coffee mugs, T-shirts etc. that remind yourself that life sucks, just in case you get carried away and have a nice day or something. So I've been thinking I should maybe swap out the Janet Leigh userpic for something more positive, like a snippet of the mosaic work.
The cabinet shop built one of the cabinets according to plans from fantasyland, making it too tall to fit in the space and putting a drawer at eye level. Eye level! I don't speak Russian, but even I could make out the words "professionalism" and "idiot" in conversation between Tile Guy and Carpenter.
Janet's not quite done screaming yet.

"durak" or "idyot"?
I want to see a picture of you or David standing next to the cabinet and pointing at the drawer. I imagine it like the enormous table and chairs at the Pacific Science Center, which are intended to give adults the feeling of being too small for their surroundings, just like kids feel all the time.
The grandchildren all adored that table and chairs some years back. Oddly, what they liked wasn't seeing us struggling with the outscale furniture; they liked struggling with it themselves.
You know, it's been too long since we went to a museum or other cultural attraction with you guys...
I think Janet is the perfect icon for a bathroom remodel, really she is. And as a bonus, she comes with her own implied soundtrack music!
One of the pull-outs in the sink vanity is facing the wrong way; the medicine chest is too shallow, has no mirror, and no shelves; the black hex tiles in the floor design are noticeably bumpy underfoot; and someone has chipped The Tub.
Janet stays. And I'm wrapping the tub & sink in bubble wrap, or beach towels, or something, before the workmen start tomorrow. |
