 | 11:00 pm - Tubulovillous adenocarcinoma in 50% merino

After wrangling with five different pieces of software to get these photos onto Ravelry and here, I'm feeling neither chipper nor chatty. But here it is, folks, my latest Finished Knitting Project, a tumor! As commissioned by jaylake hisownself. It's about 9 inches long, or 6x the original. He wanted something to literally "hold up to ridicule".

The yarn is Takhi "Bunny Print", on #7 needles (2 sizes smaller than suggested for this yarn, to keep it tight & sturdy). I cast on 29 sts and knit in the round. Got “macaroni curve” by knitting 4 rounds plain, then short-row once (i.e. 2 half-rounds) over slightly more than half the stitches, then 4 rounds plain again. (I put 11 sts on one needle, and did the short-rowing on the middle 16 of the other, using the end 2 sts for “wrap & turn”.) Also sometimes slipped every other st. on the 11-st. portion, figuring that would help tighten the inner part of the curve.
For the ends: bound off, then picked up sts slightly inside the tube (to give the end some definition) and worked a few rounds with decreases vaguely based on EZ's pi shawl principles. I really wonder what she would make of this.... Stuffed it with cotton batting before doing the 2nd end.

You know, you could get a reputation for knitting things like that. And Jay could get a reputation for commissioning things like that.
I have a reputation. That's why he asked me!

It looks like a Teletubby sex toy.
Hahahahahahahahhaha
(And thank you so much, Kate.)
::chuckle:: And this is why we love you, Kate.
There's something about a tumor in "Bunny Print".
Excellent work.

Oh that so WINS.
Oh, this rules. I do the "I am not worthy" grovel in your general direction.
And now, in addition to the knitting neepery, I want some histological neepery to go with it... I mean, for instance, why the curve...?
Crazy(and feeling geeky at the moment)Soph
Dunno; I was just making it look like its picture.
T1N0M0 tumorated colon polyp. No one has explained the shape to me, actually, though the shape probably saved my life due to being intrusive into the colon, and thus subject to irritation and eventual ulceration. The bleeding is what got medical attention — I'm 43 with no family history of cancer in my first or second degree relatives, so no one would ever have thought to go looking for it proactively.
That's a nice toy tumor.
You did a great job on it.
Bwahahahaha!!! BRILLIANT! |
